Even though I’m not the biggest fan of Oktoberfest, the food and beer can be pretty good. You might find lots of local spin-offs here in the U.S. but I also wanted to share the one at Esther’s German Bakery this Saturday (September 28th, 2013 - all day) at 987 N. San Antonio Rd, Los Altos, CA 94022 - there will be different ‘Schmankerl’ offered just for this day, like Ham in Bread crust, different Sausages, Porkroast and ‘Grill Hendl’ (Oktoberfest Chicken) and much more - http://www.esthersbakery.com

Fun facts: The original Oktoberfest in Munich started in 1810 and is held every year drawing more than 7 millions visitors every year (just to the one in Munich alone) and is therefore the largest Volksfest (people’s fair) in the world producing 1,000 tons of garbage, tents seating up to 10,000 people, employing more than 12,000 workers, generating $1.2 billion in revenue, beer being served in 1-liter glasses called “mass” and over 7 million liters of beer being served during the 16 day festival.

Cu there ;)
